History of GAA in the parish of Donagheady:
Further to the excellent history exhibition collated by Danny Devine last summer for the 125 years anniversary of the GAA, the club now intends to formalise this into a book format. The material collected thus far is a great starting point but we would now appeal to all members/ex-members/parishioners/ex-parishioners to rummage through their archives and see if they have any other relevant material, however insignificant you may feel it is.
The older the material the better, whether it pertains to the current/older versions of clubs in the parish; Aughabrack; Dunamanagh or Owen Roes. Information on adult, underage or ladies teams are all welcome. All material will be treated with utmost care and returned on request. Anything from team photo's; photo's of supporters at matches (including County matches), Scor events, Sports Days, Carnivals, League tables, Match reports etc...If no material then any stories/yarns (even the odd lie will do!!).
This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in and contribute to something that will leave a wonderful legacy for the entire parish whether interested in GAA matters or not. Research is well under way and will continue over the next few months. We will gladly meet anyone with a 'story' to tell and may call upon various sources to assist with the research.
For further information regarding, please contact Danny Devine on (07743706645) Niall 'Barney' Conway on (07875855354) or any member of the committee.

An Mhaigh Tír na nÓg G.A.C.
New Floodlighting
After months of planning and hard work, our club's new training pitch at Páirc Thír na nÓg now has a full and modern floodlighting facility. Part-funded by Sports Council NI, these high-quality lights were erected at the end of last month and are currently in operation midweek to cater for adult and underage training.
Our senior and reserve footballers had the honour of being the first group to train under the impressive new floodlights on the evening of Tuesday 2nd February. This is one of the most significant developments to have taken place at our club for a very long time and everyone is welcome to come down and witness this exciting new facility.
Senior & Reserve Team News
Having just recommenced collective training in the past couple of weeks, An Mhaigh senior and reserve teams had a further opportunity to blow off the winter cobwebs last Sunday afternoon when playing host to Armagh club Whitecross on a dry, crisp day at Páirc Thír na nÓg.
First in action were the reserves. Under the watchful eye of Sean Mallon and Brendy Farmer, An Mhaigh showed some early season promise in a very useful friendly fixture against their south Armagh opponents. It was great to see some new faces on the reserve panel last weekend and a number of others back playing football again. This fresh injection of talent will certainly help to strengthen the squad this year.
Afterwards, it was the turn of our senior side to begin its 2010 season in earnest with a tough opening match in the Ulster Club Senior League competition. The Moy management fielded an experimental side in this game and, despite losing to Whitecross on a scoreline of 1-5 to 3-9, the players will have benefitted enormously from this first competitive outing of the year.
Senior Team & Scorers: Barry Gribbin; Francie McQuade, Emmett Rafferty, Mark Currie; Padraig Laverty (0-2), Niall Conlon, Mark Jordan; James Devlin and Martin Conroy; Anthony Rafferty, Colm Jordan, Ryan O'Neill (capt); Kris Kavanagh, Tommy Conlon (0-2), Peter Mallon (1-1). Subs used: Conall Laverty (half-time) and Tomás McNicholl (50 mins).
An Mhaigh's next match in the Ulster Senior League is away to Loup (Derry) this Sunday, 14 February, at 2.00pm. Throw-in time may be subject to change.
Youth Registration
The youth registration fee for this year remains at £10 per player. Any underage footballer who has not yet registered with the club for 2010 should contact our Youth Officer Martin Conroy on 078 77068978.
Meanwhile, parents of children who would like to join the club for the first time are also welcome to get in touch with Martin or any member of the club's Youth Committee.

The preparations for the club Celebration Banquet on Saturday 27th February in the Armagh City Hotel are gathering speed. Kevin Hughes also had a 2009 to remember and his brilliant performances that seen him pick up some prestigious awards will also be a main feature of the event.
