Brian McGuigan expects Kyle Coney to receive a baptism of fire in his maiden intercounty season.

The long-serving McGuigan knows his Ardboe clubmate - and potential successor at centre forward for Tyrone - will be singled out for special attention as he breaks into the O'Neill County senior squad, starting against arch-rivals Derry this weekend:

"Kyle has come in and proved a lot of his critics wrong. He's going to come in for fierce hits at the start of the league and he's going to have to learn to deal with that.

"But Kyle is well capable of it. He's done a lot of weights in the last couple of years and he can give the knocks as good as he can take them." Tweet
