McGee facing long layoff
January 29, 2010
Tyrone corner back Mickey McGee looks set to miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a shoulder injury.
McGee had an operation on the same shoulder a few years ago and this latest setback has even placed a question mark over his inter-county future.
Tyrone manager Mickey Harte told the Irish News: "It's disappointing for that to happen him after a long career. He had an operation on his shoulder and he always had trouble with his shoulder over time and I will be depending on our medical team to keep us informed of how well it's recovering.
"It isn't looking good for this year, but we will reserve judgement until we see exactly how it is."
He added: "Mickey McGee has been a great servant to Tyrone football. He has dug us out of some difficult places because he was the best man-marker around in his young days.
"He has served Tyrone very well and it would be unfortunate if his career was to end with an injury like that, but we will just have to wait and see."
