McMahon welcomes Dooher's return

Tyrone's Joe McMahon
Joe McMahon has welcomed Brian Dooher's decision to commit himself to the Tyrone cause for another season. However, the play-anywhere McMahon fears the 34-year-old double All-Ireland winning captain, who is currently engaged in a rehab training programme, will show him up when he returns to the squad closer to the championship! "It's a good and a bad thing Training-wise, it's never good to see an older guy running past you!" he joked. On a more serious note, the Omagh clubman added: "It's good to have Brian there because he's an inspirational leader, as he has shown over the years. In training, Brian is always pushing boys on. "When it's coming to the last few minutes of the game and there's a 60-40 ball, Brian will win it for you so he's definitely a good man to have around. He's not training with the squad yet, he's doing his own stuff at the moment. It'll be time enough before he joins us." McMahon admits the Red Hands have a point to prove this year after last year's All-Ireland semi-final defeat by Cork. "We were hoping to get to the final and play Kerry. Cork were the better team on the day and we didn't show up ourselves," he remembers. "Looking back, we were maybe a wee bit stale and we didn't show up ourselves. We can learn from that because you can learn from losing as well as winning, as Mickey (Harte) always says. "There's always that disappointment there, but hopefully we can learn from that for the year ahead."
