Tyrone keep Dooher in reserve
June 19, 2009
Mickey Harte has kept faith with the Tyrone team that defeated Armagh for Sunday's Ulster SFC semi-final against Derry.
That means there is no starting place for Brian Dooher, but the team captain is expected to come off the bench, just as he did against the Orchard County. The 33-year-old aggravated a groin injury almost two weeks ago, and manager Harte has decided not to risk him from the start.
Harte's attacking options have been boosted by the return to fitness of Colm McCullagh who was sidelined for several weeks with a leg injury. Like Dooher, he is expected to see action from the subs bench.
The Red Hands also welcome the return of last year's All-Ireland final goalkeeper Pascal McConnell to the squad after a six-month lay-off with a knee injury. McConnell is listed at number 16 instead of the squad's other reserved 'keeper Jonathan Curran, with John Devine retaining the number one jersey.
Tyrone (SF v Derry): J Devine; PJ Quinn, Justin McMahon, R McMenamin; D Harte, C Gormley, P Jordan; K Hughes, E McGinley; M Penrose, T McGuigan, Joe McMahon; S O'Neill, S Cavanagh, O Mulligan.
