Clann na Gael 4-5 Pomeroy 3-8 Stephen O'Neill hit 2-3 in a seven-goal thriller as Clann na Gael earned a late draw against visiting Pomeroy last weekend in the ACL Division One. It was Pomeroy that got off to a wonderful start in the game when Ciaran McKenna slotted the first point in the opening minute before Ciaran Slane blasted in the game's first goal. Ronan McKenna and Slane landed further points before the hosts were off the mark when O'Neill shot over on 13 minutes, which boosted them to fire in two quick goals via O'Neill and Sean O'Kane to take the lead. Finbarr Fenney stretched that advantage by one until Pomeroy staged a strong finish to the half with two goal from McKenna and a point from Ronan McKenna, which gave them a half-time lead of 3-4 to 2-2. The second-half saw the home side register two more majors when Peter Devine netted early after the restart and O'Neill completed his brace to bring Clann na Gael right back in the game. Although hit with the set-back of points from Jarlath Quinn and Brendan Cunningham down the other end, as well as veteran Brian Dooher limping off with injury, O'Neill struck late to rescue a point in a brave performance Clann na Gael.
