Douglas brace keeps Aghaloo on course
June 11, 2009
Aghaloo 2-8
Drumquin 0-8
Two goals from substitute Sean Douglas proved the difference here as Aghaloo remained on course for promotion to the ACL Division Two with a six-point win over Drumquin at the weekend.
After the first half-hour both side were level on 0-2 each, and it wasn't until the second-half that the game began to adopt a more competitive edge to it, with Stevie Donnelly and Gerald McCaughey doing most of the scoring for Aghaloo and Ryan McCallion contributing down the other end.
The teams were level with ten minutes to go when Douglas was introduced to the game and his first move of the match saw the attacker latch onto a pass from Donnelly and blast to the Wolfe Tones net.
The game was still up for grabs after that, but when Douglas notched his second major in injury-time any notion of a comeback from Drumquin would far-fetched.
