"In the letter I expressed how disappointed I was"

Babs Keating has outlined his disappointment after his request for tickets to last month's All-Ireland SHC final was turned down by Tipperary officials.

In an article posted on www.thesun.ie under the heading: 'Tipp left me so ticked off', the Premier County legend writes:"Some of the present county board in Tipp were in short pants when I managed the team and we were in a bad state financially.

"I started a supporters club in order to raise money.

"Now I'm told that exception was taken to what was said in my SunSport column about the Tipperary team spending a week at Carton House and heading to a training camp in Spain in April. But the comments were meant for all of Ireland - not Tipperary specifically. I made that clear on these pages.

"My column was based on extravagance and stewardship. The grass is not greener on foreign shores and we've facilities as good here if not better than what's in Portugal or Spain.

"I had a lot of compliments from other counties where I spoke about managers exceeding what was expected of them. But that is not what the focus should be on in this case.

"The area I would focus on is, who did receive allocations from Tipp - and why was I punished?

"I had never been refused before so I wrote to the county board asking for a reason why my request was denied. And I gave the explanations as to why I needed a ticket for the final. In the letter I expressed how disappointed I was.

"I'd sent them a blank cheque when I requested the tickets - the county board could fill out what I owed them - but I've asked for that back. I'm away at the moment but there'll probably be a response when I get back home."
