Eoin Kelly is confident that his former Tipperary team-mates can capture major silverware in 2015.

The six-times All Star and 2010 All-Ireland winning captain announced his retirement from intercounty hurling yesterday but was quick to express his ongoing support for the Premier County:

"Tipp made great ground this year without needing a couple of us older guys," the Mullinahone ace told The Irish Independent. "We were a puck of a ball away from winning this year's All-Ireland. So I'm just looking forward to Tipp winning silverware next year, getting back that winning mentality.

"We've been unlucky in a few finals and you'd like to see the younger lads win some silverware now. I think they will too. We want to be at the top table and stay there.

"When you're losing year in, year out - as we were between '03 and '07 - you start wondering how do you even win games anymore. But then Liam Sheedy and his management team came in with an understanding of what it was all about, of the mentality that you need. After that, it was lovely to feel that you could be eyeing the big prizes."
