The hoganstand.com hurling team of the week.

Kilkenny and Tipperary must meet again to decide the destination of the Liam McCarthy Cup following yesterday's enthralling drawn encounter. Here's the players who stood out for us.

1. Eoin Murphy (Kilkenny)

The Glenmore man got the nod ahead of David Herity and pulled off a spectacular save to deny Bonnar Maher in the second-half not to mention the two penalty stops.

2. Paul Murphy (Kilkenny)

With Bonner Maher causing all sorts of problems for the Cats' rearguard, Brian Cody turned to Murphy to put a halt to the Tipp number 11's gallop and he succeeded to a degree.

3. JJ Delaney (Kilkenny)

The veteran defender prevented Seamus Callanan from adding to his goal tally this year but will be disappointed at conceding five points from play to his direct opponent.

4. Cathal Barrett (Tipperary)

The young defender can look back on his first All-Ireland final appearance with a great deal of satisfaction.

5. Brendan Maher (Tipperary)

A quiet outing by the Tipperary captain's standards, he was, however, successful in nullifying the threats of the Fennelly brothers.

6. Padraic Maher (Tipperary)

Was enjoying himself in the half-back line up until Richie Hogan's switch into the Noresiders' forward division in the second half and he struggled to get to grips with the all-action Kilkenny dynamo.

7. Cillian Buckley (Kilkenny)

As per usual, put in a solid shift in the Kilkenny half-back line and was one of the black and ambers' better defenders.

8. Richie Hogan (Kilkenny)

Put down a large deposit on the 'Hurler of the Year' accolade with an immense second-half display when moved to centre-forward and finished as the game's top scorer from play with six points.

9. Shane McGrath (Tipperary)

Had the measure of Richie Hogan in the first half and raised two white flags during the course of the 70 minutes.

10. John O'Dwyer (Tipperary)

Was narrowly off target with that last gasp free but that was his only wide in an otherwise top notch display which saw him finish up with seven points.

11. Patrick Maher (Tipperary)

The alarm bells were ringing in the Kilkenny defence when 'Bonner' struck for the game's opening goal and won the first of two Premier penalties shortly after.

12. TJ Reid (Kilkenny)

A return of 1-6 - 1-2 from play - for the ace attacker who also set up Richie Power for his first goal.

13. Richie Power (Kilkenny)

Brian Cody's decision to restore the Carrickshock man to his starting 15 paid handsome dividends with the 28-year-old helping himself to 2-1.

14. Seamus Callanan (Tipperary)

There was a lot of pressure on the Tipp full-forward's shoulders and he proved he is well capable of delivering on the big day with seven points, five of which came from general play.

15. Lar Corbett (Tipperary)

It was obvious from early on that Lar was up for the fight and he turned back the clock with a display brimming with enterprise.
