Tipp club lands All-Ireland title

March 27, 2014
Holycross Ballycahill have been crowned All-Ireland junior 'B' hurling champions.

Twelve months after their season started, Jimmy Burke's charges captured the national title with a fabulous 2-12 to 0-9 victory over Templeglantine in a replayed final in Raheenagh (Limerick) on Sunday.

In an absorbing contest, the Munster champions pared a nine-point deficit down to two in the second half before the Tipp standard bearers pulled clear again for a historic victory.

Eight of the starting team last weekend were over 30, so this was a success built on a great mixture of both youth and experience.

Along the way, Holycross Ballycahill demonstrated remarkable spirit during the past year, winning the Mid final, county final and All-Ireland final after replays!

The only match they lost throughout their championship campaign was the Munster final - against Sunday's opposition.
