Lar Corbett spent last night in Clonmel General Hospital after suffering broken ribs during the Allianz Hurling League final.
The Thurles Sarsfields clubman was admitted after it was initially feared that he may have suffered kidney damage. However, it's understood that he fractured two ribs and also suffered heavy bruising.
The injury completed a miserable day for the 2010 Hurler of the Year who received a straight red card along with Kilkenny's JJ Delaney after the pair were involved in a wrestling match during the second half of the Nowlan Park clash.
Both players are expected to receive one-match bans, meaning they will miss Tipperary and Kilkenny's respective championship openers against Limerick and Offaly.
Tipperary won't be appealing the suspension if manager Eamon O'Shea post-match comments are anything to go by.
"I didn't actually see it. I mean, two players were grappling on the ground. I couldn't see what happened," he said.
"Sometimes a referee sends players off, sometimes he doesn't. I have absolutely no problem with the referee."
