SH challenge: Tipp by a point
May 14, 2012
Tipperary 2-12
Clare 1-14
Tipperary - minus the returning Lar Corbett - edged out Clare in a senior hurling challenge which marked the official opening of Clonlara GAA's new facilities last night.
Seamus Callanan was the star of the show, scoring 1-8, 1-3 of which came from play. Leading by 0-9 to 0-7 at half-time, the visitors had extended their lead to six points within two minutes of the restart thanks to a quick-fired 1-1 from Callanan.
Noel McGrath added a second Tipp goal in the 55th minute, but the hosts refused to wilt and a goal from substitute Colin Ryan from a 20-metre free five minutes from the end left the minimum in it.
