Corbett turns music promoter

Lar Corbett leaves Noel Hickey in his wake on the way to scoring the first of his three goals in the 2010 All-Ireland SHC final at Croke Park - INPHO
Lar Corbett is promoting a concert for The Voice of Ireland judge Bressie in Thurles next weekend.
The former Tipperary scoring machine, who stunned hurling fans by announcing his inter-county retirement earlier this year, is hoping his career as a concert promoter gets off to the best possible start when Bressie - aka as Niall Breslin - plays in the Premier Hall in Thurles on Friday night.
Like Corbett, Breslin's background is steeped in the GAA - he won a Westmeath SFC medal with Mullingar Shamrocks in 2000 and also played for Westmeath in that year's All-Ireland U21FC semi-final against Limerick.
"Whether it's in hurling or business, you'll only get out of it what you put in and we're giving ourselves the best possible chance of making our first event a success by bringing one of the biggest stars in Ireland to Thurles," Corbett is quoted as saying in the Irish Daily Star.
"We are really happy with how things have gone so far and it's looking like we won't be too far off selling the event out in advance, which will be a great start."
Corbett once again stressed that business commitments - he runs the Coppinger's Bar in Thurles - was the only reason why he quit the Tipperary team.
"I have had the best days of my life hurling for Tipperary and it has been strange not being in there with the lads these past couple of months. I got so much out of hurling and I would like to think that I gave my best back to it," he continued.
"I had no choice, for business reasons, but to take time away from the game and I am giving my all to the business end of my life right now."
