Evans looks to Roscommon

Roscommon manager John Evans.
After the disappointment of the McGrath Cup final, John Evans turned his attention to Roscommon.

Tipp lost to Cork in Sunday's subsidiary football competition decider in Munster but manager Evans wasted no time in pointing out that this weekend's tricky national football league opener against Roscommon is of vital importance to the Premier County:

"When you don't pull off the trophy or don't win the game, you have to look at the long-term view," he tells The Tipperary Star. "The McGrath Cup has been good preparation for the league and has served its purpose.

"We are disappointed that we didn't win but I was happy enough with the way our team finished.

"We got five subs on and hopefully we don't have an injury for the game on Sunday next against Roscommon.

"It will be a very difficult ask of Tipperary to go up to Hyde Park and take points off Roscommon. They were Connacht champions two years ago, they were in the final last year.

"They will give anybody a run for their money. They have a new manager and a new impetus and we are expecting a tough game up there."
