Seamus Callanan doesn't expect to be out of action for too long after undergoing ankle surgery last week.
The 22-year-old Tipperary attacker, who is facing the prospect of being sidelined until March, told the Irish Examiner: "The recovery's going pretty well.
"I had the operation Monday week and I'm back in Dublin today to have it looked at, so hopefully the news will be good. I'm hoping to do a bit more with it, in terms of exercise and putting weight on it, in the next couple of weeks."
Callanan, who captained his club Drom & Inch to their first Tipperary SHC title last year, has welcomed the appointment of Paul Curran and Padraic Maher as captain and vice-captain for the coming season.
"The two boys will do a great job, they're great motivators and two lads that everybody in the dressing room look up to anyway. Their attitude and their preparation on and off the field is top class and definitely there's exciting times ahead for Tipp," he added.
