Hogan expected tougher test

August 23, 2010
Tipperary manager Ken Hogan admitted that he had expected a sterner test from Antrim in Saturday's Bord Gais Energy All-Ireland U21HC semi-final.

The Premier County ran out emphatic 28-point winners to book their place in next month's decider against Galway and Hogan said: "I'm pleased to be in the final. It's another step. We expected a stiffer challenge, but in games you have to prepare as well as possible."

The former Tipp goalkeeper felt the game was a good chance for players to stake a claim for All-Ireland final starting places.

"It gives people an opportunity to stake a claim. The lads were marvellous and it's disappointing for some of the lads who didn't get in today. We have 20 guys training, without our senior players, and they are really committed to what Tipp hurling is all about."
