Hammersley receives Tipp call-up

Clonoulty Rossmore's Timmy Hammersley
Timmy Hammersley has been called into the Tipperary senior panel by manager Liam Sheedy following some stunning displays with Waterford IT recently.
Hammersley, who was involved with the county Under 21 set-up last year, trained with the Tipp squad last night in Thurles after accepting Sheedy invite and will now hope to continue his good form for the Premier County.
During the Fitzgibbon Cup campaign, the Clonoulty-Rossmore attacker notched up some superb tallies which led WIT to the competitions final and clearly impressed the Tipp boss.
"Timmy's performances this year carried the WIT team," Wexford manager Colm Bonnar, who is also over the WIT hurlers, told the Irish Examiner. "Looking back through all the games, he scored nearly all of our totals, bar two or three points in every game.
"Timmy was in there with the Tipp Under 21s last year and couldn't make the team but he does enjoy the Fitzgibbon Cup and it brings the best out of him.
"He's a leader and that encourages him to play to his potential."
