Templederry Kenyons 2-11 Kilruane MacDonaghs 1-13 Templederry Kenyons produced a severe shock last Saturday afternoon when they overcame Kilruane MacDonaghs by a single point in Nenagh to capture the North U21 hurling 'A' Championship title. Kilruane, who were the favourites and reigning champions going into the match, got off to the ideal start pucking over three points from Ray McLoughney, Shane Quinlan and Michael Costello in the opening stages. The champions pushed into a 0-5 to 0-1 lead after that, but Patrick Ryan's goal brought the deficit down to one. Kilruane battled hard though and struck their major response through Shane Quinlan for a six point difference, before Donal McGrath netted for the trailers, putting the scores at 2-4 to 1-10. In the second-half, Templederry gathered momentum with the breeze at their backs and outscored their opponents by 0-7 to 0-3, with Gearoid Ryan and Tommy Hogan leading the charge, to take the title.
