BY COUNTY PRO ED DONNELLY MUNSTER CLUB SENIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP Hard luck to Galtee Rovers who bowed out at the first attempt on Sunday last in the Munster Club Senior Football Championship Semi-Final at Quilty when they lost to the Clare champions Kilmurry-Ibrickane by 2-6 to 0-4. MUNSTER CLUB JUNIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP Cappawhite defeated Eire Og (Cork) by 2-11 to 0-15 in the Munster Club Junior Football Championship at Leahy Park Cashel on Sunday last. Cappawhite will now play Bruff (Limerick) in the Munster semi-final on Sunday next at 1:00pm in Bruff. John Brew (Clare) will be the referee. This was Tipperary's first victory at this grade since the competition began in 2003. During that time, the Tipperary representative lost at the first hurdle by an average margin of 14 points while combining to score 3-17 in those 5 years (an average of five points per game). Cappawhite are the only one of Tipperary six representatives in the 2008 Munster Club Hurling and Football Championship to win a game. REFEREES Johnny Ryan (Boherlahan-Dualla) has been chosen to referee next Sunday's Munster Club Senior Hurling Championship Final between De La Salle (Waterford) and Adare (Limerick) at 2:00pm in Semple Stadium. Meanwhile, Brian Tyrell (St. Mary's) will referee the Munster Club Intermediate Football Championship Final between St. Michaels Foilmore (Kerry) and Kilmihill (Clare) in Mallow at 2:00pm. COUNTY JUNIOR "B" HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL Congratulations to Moyne-Templetuohy following their 2-8 to 1-5 victory over Cashel King Cormacs in the County Junior "B" Hurling Championship Final at Gortnahoe on Saturday last. Moyne-Templetuohy are the second club to win this competition on more than one occasion since the first County Championship took place in 1993. Toomevara have three titles to their credit while Loughmore-Castleiney, Carrick Swan, Templederry Kenyons, Silvermines, Portroe, Burgess, Thurles Sarsfields, Lorrha, Kilruane MacDonaghs, Kildangan and Ballingarry are the other teams who have all captured one title each. COUNTY JUNIOR "B" FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL Carrick Swan won the County Junior "B" Football title for the first time on Sunday thanks to a 2-7 to 1-3 victory over Templederry Kenyons at Boherlahan. Carrick Swan joined Cahir and Fethard as the only clubs from the South division to win this title since the first County Championship took place in 1995. No club has ever won this title on more than one occasion. COUNTY UNDER 21 "A" HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP Templederry Kenyons will play Knockavilla Kickhams in the first of the County Under 21 "A" Hurling Championship Semi-Finals on Sunday next at Templemore with a 2:00pm throw-in. Willie Clohessy (Drom & Inch) will be the referee and extra time will be played if necessary. The other semi-final between Thurles Sarsfields and the South champions (Ballingarry, Carrick Swan or Moyle Rovers) will take place on Saturday December 13th. The County Under 21 "A" Hurling Championship Final is fixed for Sunday December 21st. COUNTY UNDER 21 "B" HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP Boherlahan-Dualla will play Mullinahone on Sunday next at Littleton at 2:00pm in the first of the County Under 21 "B" Hurling Championship Semi-Finals. Eamonn Browne (Kickhams) will be the referee and extra time will be played if necessary. In the other semi-final, Cappawhite will play the North champions (Kildangan or Silvermines) on Sunday December 7th. The County Under 21 "B" Hurling Championship Final is fixed for Saturday December 13th. TIPPERARY SENIOR HURLING TEAM HOLIDAY Thanks to everyone who supported the Tipperary Senior Hurling Team Dog Night which served as a fund-raiser to help send the 2008 Tipperary Senior Hurling Panel on a one week holiday in December to Tenerife following victories in the Waterford Crystal Cup, National Hurling League and Munster Championship. CLUB OFFICER TRAINING There will be many new club officers elected in Tipperary in the coming weeks as each Tipperary club holds their Annual General Meeting. As part of the Club Officer Training Programme which was rolled out earlier this year by the GAA, a number of presentations are available for download which will be of assistance for new club officers. Anyone can access these training presentations by logging in to the Latest News section of the Tipperary GAA web site. INTER-FIRMS GAA Hard luck to the Clonmel based combination of Abbott Laboratories / Boston Scientific who were beaten by a strong Limerick Garda team in the semi-final of the Munster Junior Football Championship. The match was played under lights in Kildorrery on Wednesday night, November 19th. JOHN MCINTYRE Best wishes to former Tipperary player John McIntyre (Lorrha / Dorrha) who has been confirmed as the Galway Senior Hurling manager for 2009. GAA GAMES DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE The GAA has announced that it has received its maximum number of bookings for the 2008 GAA Games Development Conference sponsored by Lucozade Sport, taking place in Croke Park this weekend. Over 750 delegates from all 32 Counties and 8 different Countries have already registered, making it the largest Conference of its kind in Europe. Due to the maximum number of delegates pre-registering the GAA would like to emphasise that they will not be able to accommodate individuals who turn up on the day in the hope of registering. The conference will take place next Friday and Saturday and RTÉ.ie will stream Saturday's proceedings in full live on the web. Internet users around the world can watch the conference on RTÉ.ie's GAA Media Player on www.rte.ie/gaa. The 2008 Conference will be a combination of keynote, parallel break-out sessions and practical pitch-based sessions, involving noted speakers from Ireland and overseas and is designed to cater for all GAA codes. Sessions are being delivered in association with Camogie, Ladies' Football, Handball and Rounders. THROUGH MEMORIES HAZE "Through Memories Haze" which looks back on GAA events, people and experiences in more than forty six years in provincial journalism and written by former Nenagh Guardian editor Gerry Slevin will be launched in The Yanks Inn, Borrisokane on this Thursday evening at 8:00pm by the GAA's President-elect Christy Cooney from Youghal, Co. Cork. Master of Ceremonies will be RTE match commentator Marty Morrissey. All proceeds following production costs from this book will go to the Tipperary GAA Supporters Club while the book is dedicated to the late Seamus O Riain of Moneygall. The book will go on sale this weekend. The launch in Borrisokane is open to everyone and refreshments will also be served. CALLING ALL GROUNDSMEN The Annual General Meeting of the Munster Branch of the Institute of Groundsmanship will take place on Wednesday, December 3rd at 7:30pm in the Sadlers Wells Suite at the Horse and Jockey Hotel. There have been many developments in the industry in the past number of years and a new committee will be essential to bring these positive developments to the members in the Munster area and to plan branch activities for 2009.
