Liam McGrath’s 74th-minute free earned Tipperary a dramatic 2-5 apiece draw with Fermanagh at Semple Stadium.

Brian Fox netted twice for the Premier County and his second major on the stroke of full time looked like it would propel the hosts to their first win of the campaign but Sean Quigley converted an injury-time penalty for Rory Gallagher’s men before McGrath’s last-gasp effort ensured that the sides would share the spoils.

A crowd of 667 witnessed only four first-half scores, visiting goalkeeper Thomas Treacy fumbling Fox’s point effort to the net as Tipp led by 1-1 to 0-2 at the break, Ryan Jones and Quigley (free) on target for the northerners in the first half.

Quigley and Philip Austin exchanged the first two scores after the resumption and Liam Casey made it 1-3 to 0-3 only for Conall Jones to notch the levelling goal twelve minutes from time. The sides remained deadlocked as Conor Sweeney’s point was cancelled out by Quigley and Fox’s second goal chalked out Ciaran Corrigan’s point with interest as a low-quality encounter at least got a grandstand finish, the Ernesiders drawing for the second weekend running amid a series of late twists and turns.
