Ryan aims for Mid Tipp glory

September 01, 2017

Upperchurch-Drombane captain Paul Ryan is hoping to guide the side to a first ever Mid-Tipperary senior hurling title.

However, standing in their way are a formidable Thurles Sarsfields side who are seeking their 43rd title in the competition and are strong favourites this weekend.

Ryan admitted to the Tipperary Star that it was going to be a tough task for them, but he added that they intend to make the most of being in the final and give it their all.

"You just have to look forward to it. It's not every day that we get to a mid final and it is a big occasion for us. It doesn't matter who is in front of us - we have to look forward to it," said Ryan.

"A final is a final and you have to go out to do your best and come away with no regrets. They don't come around too often and we just have to grab them with both hands. We will have great support. We are a small community and everybody is close knit.

"We are pulling together and that's what makes a rural club at the end of the day."
