The late Sean Kilfeather

The president of the GAA, Nickey Brennan, has expressed his sadness at the death of former Irish Times GAA correspondent, Sean Kilfeather.
From Coolera, Co Sligo, Kilfeather covered boxing and Gaelic Games with the Irish Times from 1974. Mr. Kilfeather was honoured with a GAA McNamee Hall of Fame Award in 2002.
Mr. Brennan stated that "his unique writing style and his knowledge of literature endeared him to readers throughout his career. His love for hurling and Gaelic football was obvious from the passion of his match reports." He stated that "Sean was a regular attendee in the press box in Croke Park on match days and his stories and memories will be missed."
