St Mary's club notes
August 18, 2008
Bord na nÓg
U-16 - We have won our section of the Championship league defeating Molaise Gaels, Owenmore Gaels and Buninadden in the process.
We are due to play Coolaney /Mullinabreena in the quarter final on Thurs evening at 7pm at home. Meet in St Marys at 6pm.Well done to Conor Niland and Paddy Brady who were part of the successful county u16 Manning Cup and Webb Cup panels.
U-18 - Our minors had a great victory over Shamrock Gaels in the first round of the Championship at Kent Park on Monday 11th August running out comfortable winners in the end on a score line of 5-15 to 1-4. This was a tremendous team effort with everyone performing well. Our backs were solid throughout, our midfielders provided that pivotal linkage to the forwards which resulted in the forwards having the room to take their scores.
Our next outing is against St Farnan's away on Monday evening next 25th August. Farnan's finished runners up in their group in the league and we will have to up our game considerably if we are to compete for the honours on this occasion. Training continues on Mondays and Fridays for the duration of the season. Congrats to all our players who have received their Leaving Cert results last week and best wishes with their future careers or studies.
Saturday Morning Coaching
Saturday morning coaching was cancelled last week due to the inclement weather. Coaching will resume again this Saturday between 10.30am and 12pm. As there are only a few Saturdays left we would encourage as many of our young players as possible to attend.
We would encourage parents to bring their children along to these Saturday morning sessions and hopefully your children will enjoy the coaching and want to come back. If you want further information, contact Adrian Muldowney (087-6181215), Francis Fidgeon (087-2282218).
Senior/Intermediate
This weekend is a big weekend for the Club with both the Senior and Intermediate Teams in Championship action. The Seniors face Bunnanadden on Saturday evening in Tourlestrane (Throw-in 6.45pm) in the Senior Relegation Play Off. We ask all supporters to
come out and get behind the Team in what is a massive game for the Club.
The Intermediates face St. Molaise Gaels in Markievicz Park on Sunday afternoon in the quarter final of the Intermediate Championship (Throw-in 1.45pm). We ask all supporters to try and get out and show their support for both sides. Training for both Squads continues this
week.
