New Sligo manager Tommy Jordan
Sligo county board have appointed Tommy Jordan as their new senior football manager in succession to Tommy Brehony. The Mayo native made his name with Crossmolina whom he managed to an All-Ireland club title in 2001, as well as three senior championship titles and two Connacht trophies. Jordan was ratified by the Sligo county board on Tuesday night and will be hopeful of building on the platform built by Brehony, who delivered a first provincial crown in 32 years for the Yeats County. His appointment in Sligo means that there are now three Mayo managers in charge of the five counties in Connacht, with John O'Mahony overseeing Mayo and John Maughan guiding Roscommon. Peter Forde, another Mayo man, recently stood down as Galway manager to be replaced by Liam Sammon while Westmeath's Dessie Dolan runs the show in Leitrim.
