Sligo full forward Pat Hughes is eager to make up for the disappointment of missing out on the 2012 Connacht SFC final.

Hughes was injured in the warm up to that game as he pulled his hamstring and was forced to watch on from the sidelines.

However, he is hoping for more luck this weekend as Sligo prepare to face Mayo once again in the provincial decider.

Hughes has formed part of a formidable full forward line for Sligo as he is flanked by David Kelly and Adrian Marren and he is hoping for fonder memories of Sunday's encounter against Mayo.

"I don't think I can remember the first half of that game at all. I was sitting on the bench leg up on ice just distraught," said Hughes.

Hughes added that he believes that the underdogs tag suited Sligo going into Sunday's provincial decider.

"Coming in as underdogs, you always have those little things going in your favour, that you're always going to be that little bit hungrier and hoping that the opposition might be a bit complacent or whatever."
