Kevin Walsh won't gamble with any of his senior players in the Connacht junior championship.

Sligo have won the Connacht junior football crown in each of the past two years and they begin their defence of the title against Galway in Tubbercurry tomorrow night.

However, that game falls just a week before the Yeats County travel to the Big Apple to play in the Connacht SFC.

Walsh, who manages both teams, with an overlap of players, admits in The Sligo Champion that he'd prefer to err on the side of caution:

"We're not going to take any chances but a few of the lads in the senior panel will probably be given a chance to get some game time.

"The timing of the junior fixture is not ideal but we're still anxious to field as strong a team as possible." Tweet
