U21s tamed by Derry

January 26, 2012
Sligo's U21s were no match for Derry in the North West tournament.

The sides met at Celtic Park last Saturday afternoon and the hosts eventually powered to a facile 2-9 to 0-5 victory against a Yeats County combination that struggled to cope with the conditions.

Derry had wind advantage in the first half and the sides shared a mere two points in the opening quarter.

It was 0-4 apiece at the break but the visitors - with the wind at their backs - managed to raise just a solitary flag thereafter, when Brian Egan clipped over a free.

Egan, David Maye (0-2) and corner back Enda Kivlehan got their other scores.
