Quarter-finals take centre stage

September 02, 2010
The quarter-finals of the Sligo Senior Football Championship take all the focus this coming weekend with all four games down for decision on Saturday and Sunday.

Getting the show on the road are Curry and Geevagh, who face off at Markievicz Park on Saturday afternoon.

Curry emerged from Group 1 following victories over St John's and Calry/St Joseph's, while Geevagh recovered from an opening one-point defeat to Ballymote Round Towers to advance from Group 4.

Two quarter-finals take place simultaneously at 6.30pm on Saturday evening, with Ballymote taking on St John's at Kilcoyne Park while Markievicz Park hosts Eastern Harps, convincing victors over Coolera-Strandhill and St Molaise in the group, against a St Mary's side who sealed their passage with an eight-point win over Tubbercurry last weekend.

The final quarter-final tie throws in at 12 noon on Sunday at Markievicz Park, with Coolera-Strandhill taking on defending champions Tourlestrane, who put up impressive scores of 0-15 and 4-9 in despatching St Mary's and Tubbercurry in Group 2.
