Chairman proud of progress
August 19, 2010
Sligo County Board chairman John Murphy is delighted with the progress that the county has made in this year's All-Ireland JFC as they take on Kerry in the final at the weekend.
Murphy feels that progressing to the All-Ireland final is another indication into the direction that the county is heading and stressed that these are good times for the county.
"First of all, it's great to be there. It's the first time in a long time that a Sligo team has got to an All-Ireland final. The minors did it in 1968 and of course our only All-Ireland came with the juniors in 1935," said Murphy.
"It's tremendous for the players and it shows the progress that we have made through under-age, minor, under-21, etc. This advances our cause further and gives us more profile."
