Walsh keeps Sligo and Galway guessing
August 06, 2010
Sligo football boss Kevin Walsh won't be making a decision on his future until after the All-Ireland JFC final later this month.
Walsh, who is the firm favourite to take over from Joe Kernan in his native county, is also manager of the Sligo junior team which defeated Louth on Monday to qualify for the All-Ireland final against either Kerry or Warwickshire, and won't be making any decision until after the final.
Walsh won All-Ireland medals with Galway as a player in 1998 and 2001, but after leading Sligo to back-to-back promotions and championship victories over Mayo and Galway this year, Yeats County officials are desperate to retain his services.
But the big Killanin man is refusing to get involved in the speculation and is firmly focused on guiding Sligo to their first All-Ireland JFC title since 1935.
"That's my sole concern at the moment," he said.
"It is an opportunity for Sligo to win an All-Ireland and I will be putting all my effort into helping achieve that. We can turn our attention to next year after that, but for now all focus is on that match."
