Club AGM
The St. Mary's AGM took place on Sunday evening last in the Clubhouse. Very comprehensive reports of the 2009 year were given by Secretary, Paul Curley, Treasurer, Leo Logan and Chairman, Niall Murray on all club activities and the various coaches, club members and supporters were thanked for all their support over the past 12 months. With all Officers willing to remain on for a further year, the Club Executive remains unchanged. We wish the Club and all of the Officers every success in the coming year both on and off the playing fields.
Volunteers
A number of priority areas were highlighted at the AGM. We badly need a number of new volunteers to help out within our club. Club Treasurer Leo Logan is looking for volunteers to collect admission fees at Senior League games. Ronnie Brennan and his team who look after pitch lining and maintenance are looking for people to help out with the upkeep of the club grounds. We also need someone to take on the role of dressing room caretaker/maintenance. Anyone interested in helping out with the running of our club please feel free to contact Niall Murray, Leo Logan or Kevin Molloy or indeed any other member of the club executive.
Bord na nÓg
The First Draft of the 2010 Master Fixture Calendar will be available shortly on the Club's website. All underage coaches must now have the vetting form completed; this is also available from the County Board's website and must be returned immediately to any committee member.
Medal Presentation Night
The Club medal presentation night is on in the Glasshouse Hotel on Friday 5th March 2010. There will be medal presentations to a number of our under age teams (both boys and girls), as well as to the successful U-20 team. Finger food and a disco will be provided after the medal presentation. It is important that all club members young and old turn out to support these teams on this night.
Minor
Good luck to Summerhill College in the Connacht Colleges Senior 'A' semi-final against St. Muirdeach's Ballina on Sunday next in Tubbercurry. As a result our scheduled U-18 match against Tubbercurry for Sunday next will be played at a later date. We are due to play Eastern Harps at home on Sunday week 7th March. Training is planned for 6pm on Friday next.
U-14
Good luck to Summerhill College in the first years 'A' final due to be played shortly.
Many of our successful U-12 and U-14 Feile teams are part of the college panel.
Senior/Junior
The new season got underway on Saturday afternoon last as St. Mary's faced Drumcliffe/Rosses Point in the first round of the Kiernan Cup in Kevinsfort. In a game played in heavy underfoot conditions as well as the odd wintry shower, it was the home side that led at half time on a scoreline of 0-4 to 0-2. Mary's continued to press on in the second period and a well taken goal by Glen Monaghan midway through the half put some daylight between the sides as the game finished with the home side winning on a scoreline of St. Mary's 1-9 Drumcliffe 0-6. Best performers for the home side were Caolan O'Grady, Seamus Burns, Neil Smyth and Donnacha Gallagher. The Seniors face an away trip to Eastern Harps in the second round of the Kiernan Cup on Sunday next (Throw-in 2.30pm). Training continues on Tuesday and Friday evenings with all Senior Panellists expected to attend. The Championship Draws for 2010 took place recently with the Seniors being placed in a Group alongside defending champions Tourlestrane and Tubbercurry. The Junior 'A' side will face St. Pat's, St. Molaise Gaels and St. John's.
