FL3 round-up: a good day for Armagh, Longford and Westmeath

Armagh's push for promotion from Division 3 remains on course after Kieran McGeeney's side got the better of Offaly in Tullamore today.

The Orchard County scored a 1-15 to 1-9 victory over their hosts.

Gregory McCabe (Armagh) and Sean Doyle traded goals in the opening half but the visitors took a 1-10 to 1-5 lead into the break.

The scores dried up in the second-half but Armagh comfortably secured their fourth win of the campaign with Ethan Rafferty top scoring with 0-5.

The Ulster outfit defeated Longford in round 3 but Denis Connerton's men got back to winning ways with a 1-12 to 0-9 win over Wexford in Pearse Park today.

Robbie Smyth netted the game's only goal in the 40th minute while the Model County were forced to play the last 19 minutes of the game with 14 men after Daithi Waters was sent for an early shower.

The home side had led by 0-7 to 0-5 at the midway point.

Meanwhile, John Heslin and Ger Egan were to the fore as Westmeath picked up their third win of the campaign against Sligo.

Captain Heslin top scored for the Lake County with eight points in their 0-20 to 0-14 victory while Egan chipped in with 0-5.

Colin Kelly's side shaded the first-half exchanges by 0-10 to 0-7.
