St. Brigid's bid for a six-in-a-row of Roscommon SFC titles is over after they were edged out by local rivals Clann na nGael in their home pitch of Kiltoom this afternoon.

Clann withstood a late rally by the long-time champions to hold on for a famous 0-14 to 0-12 victory, and a place in the county final for the first time since 1997 against another neighbouring club, Padraig Pearses, who accounted for Roscommon Gaels in the other semi-final.

For Clann manager and former Dublin star Paul Curran, the victory was sweet revenge for Brigid's win over his former Ballymun Kickhams' charges in the 2013 All-Ireland club final. Clann were the better team throughout and when former county star Jonathan Dunning scored two quick-fire points to put them 0-13 to 0-8 up, they looked home and hosed.

But in a dramatic finale, Brigid's reduced the deficit to the minimum thanks to three points from Karol Mannion and another from Brian Stack before Clann sealed victory from a late free.

In the first semi-final at Kiltoom, two first half goals set Shane Curran's Padraig Pearses up for a surprisingly comfortable 2-12 to 0-10 victory over Roscommon Gaels.
