Roscommon CBS 2-5

A flurry of late points saw Pobascoil Chorca Dhuibhne retain the Hogan Cup at the expense of Roscommon CBS in Croke Park today.

The Kerry students looked to be in trouble after conceding a second goal with eight minutes left on the clock but they recovered from that set-back in the best possible fashion to maintain their stranglehold on the competition.

Down by a point, Cathal Bambury restored parity shortly after before further points from Seamus O Muircheartaigh (2), Gearoid Hici O Brosnachain and Conor Geaney sealed the victory.

Geaney finished as the winners' top scorer with five points (three frees) while Sean O Gairbhia netted their goal in the 15th minute to parachute them into a 1-2 to 0-1 lead.

Both defences were on top during a low-scoring opening 30 minutes, however, and the sides were tied on 1-3 apiece at the break.

Roscommon CBS full-forward Conor Shanagher finished the game with two goals to his name but his efforts proved to be in vain.
