CBS learned from league final defeat

Manager Seamus Heneghan claims Roscommon CBS "learned a lot" from their Connacht league final loss to Summerhill College after the turned the tables to secure a first Connacht PP senior football 'A' championship in 17 years last Saturday.

Heneghan, who masterminded the long-awaited success along with coach Willie Hegarty, told the Roscommon Herald: "We learned a lot of harsh lessons from the league final and we decided that we would play this final on our terms.

"We planned that we wouldn't give Summerhill a two-goal cushion. They beat us by 11 points in the league final, but we watched the video and it was the goals that were the difference.

"We played St. Pat's of Cavan in early February. We tried out the new style and it just worked that day so we knew it would work again. It was down the players who executed it so well."

The Castlerea man insists the CBS won't be resting on their laurels.

"We can reflect on what we've achieved at the end of the year, but from tomorrow we will start getting ready for the All-Ireland semi-final. There is a bit more in this team."
