John Evans was in buoyant mood after Roscommon's brilliant second half display in Newbridge.

Trailing by three points at half-time, the Rossies blitzed Kildare after the restart to put themselves back in the promotion hunt.

"Any day you kick 24 points you have to be delighted," the winning manager enthused.

"It was the manner of our comeback and the way we stayed in the game, having been six and seven points down at different stages, that really pleased me.

"They are a lovely bunch of guys and I'm delighted they were able to express themselves on a tight St Conleth's Park. They showed accuracy, flair and pace."

Asked about Roscommon's promotion prospects, Evans replied: "This is a dog-eat-dog league.

"We have three hard games left to play. It's not going to be easy. We have Meath next at home and what a game that should be. I'm sure they'll be a big crowd at the Hyde."
