Results: We had results during the week. On BH Monday the minors had a tough victory over St.Barrys, proving goals win matches with a 5-06 to 2-13 victory. The team have now 4 wins from 5. On Friday the U16s put in an excellent performance in sunny Croghan, but two goals in the dying moments from Castlerea, meant the visitors ran out 5-04 to 2-09 victors. On Sunday, the Junior A's had an important win over Strokestown B. Goals from Darren Conlon and Conor Layden meant the lads ran out 2-11 to 1-04 winners.This leaves the team on 8 points from 6 games. The U14s and Junior B games did not go ahead.
Fixtures: On this Tuesday (15th May) the minors play their last league game before the exam break. They face Kilglass Gaels away at 7.30pm. On Thursday the U14s play Oran at 7pm in Oran. On Friday the U16s start their championship campaign. They face old rivals Kilmore who beat them in the league. Throw in is at 7.30pm in Croghan. On Saturday the Junior A's face St.Ronans, in an important game in the top half of the table, at 7.30pm in Croghan. The Junior B's are also due to face Kilmore in the league. Please check fixtures for any changes to all these games. As always please support all our players, in which are important games.
Lotto: There was no winner of the Lotto jackpot worth €8950. €20 winners were; Joe Carty, John O Dowd, John Boyd, Patricia McCormack, Emmet Cooney/Alan Mulligan. The jackpot is now €9,000 and next draw is 28th May in Gings with Aidan Filans team in charge. Don't forget you can play online at www.shannongaels.gaa.ie
Roscommon v Galway: Roscommon play Galway in the first round of the Connacht Championship on Sunday. Throw-in at Hyde Park is at 4pm. Tickets will be available during the week from the Roscommon county board offices priced at; Stand €25, Terrace / open seating €20, Juveniles €5. Senior Citizens /Students purchase tickets at full price and receive partial refund at gates 1 and 18. Best wishes to manager Des Newton and the players.
Pairc naGael: No training can take place in Pairc naGael, Cortober during this weekend due to Bull Sales. Please get in contact with relevant pitch administrators if organising training this week.
Shannon Gaels Summer Camp: The Shannon Gaels GAA summer camps returns this year. Its takes place from 2nd-6th July in Pairc naGael, Cortober. Watch out for application forms during the coming weeks and on the club website.
Ladies: Hard luck to the Roscommon U.14 girls beaten in the Connacht A final by Mayo on Sunday. The Shannon Gaels U.12 girls will play Strokestown in Croghan at 7pm on Wednesday. The Junior ladies will play Roscommon Gaels in their last league game next weekend. See fixtures. Please set aside all your unwanted clothes, shoes, bags, bed-linen, etc., for the annual 'Cash for Clobber' collection which will be taking place over the next few weeks.
