Brigid's turn to Currid
January 27, 2012
St Brigid's have enlisted the help of Cartoline Currid as they bid for All-Ireland glory.
Performance coach Currid boasts an extraordinary CV of success with various teams - including the Dublin side that captured Sam Maguire last year, Tipperary's hurlers the previous year and Tyrone in 2008 - and has been added to the St Brigid's think-tank in the hope that the Roscommon and Connacht senior club champions can get over the final two hurdles this year.
St Brigid's are due to face Garrycastle in their All-Ireland semi-final on February 18th. Manager Noel O'Brien says in the Examiner:
"You are talking millimetres to get over an All-Ireland final and win a game. This year we have brought in a few people. Maybe there is a bit more experience in the physical end of it.
"We have Caroline Currid, who was with the Dublin senior team last year. She has been tweaking things that maybe I wasn't doing. That has certainly helped, and hopefully will as we go along.
"You always have to be thinking more advanced. Training methods have changed, the whole system of football has changed. It's not running the laps around the field and that kind of thing, it's more modern and technology is coming into it."
