St Brigid's club notes

August 31, 2010
INTERMEDIATE QUARTER-FINAL;
St Brigids, 1-12 Fuerty 1-06;
Well done to the Intermediate side who qualified for the semi-final of the championship after a workmanlike performance on Sunday evening, this was an a tough game played in perfect conditions. Brigids started well with early scores from Brendan O'Brien and Gerry Dunning and when Kieran Kilkenny took a great ball and fired to the net the lads opened up a lead that we held right through the game. The second half again saw Brigids dominating the midfield area with Padraig Kelly excellent and Richie Blaine coming much more into the game. Fuerty did make a fight back mid way through the half when they got a goal but a great James Martin save a couple of minutes later denied them a chance to get level. Late points from the hard working Darragh Sheehy and substitute Mark Gavin seeing us safely through to a semi final meeting with St Ronans. Well done to the team and management . best for Brigids on the day were J Martin, E Mannion, M Grehan, D Sheehy, P Kelly, G Dunning and R Blaine. The lads now face a must win game next weekend in the League away to St Ronans to ensure, O Gara cup status for next season.
