O'Donnell under pressure to continue

Roscommon manager Fergal O'Donnell
Roscommon chiefs are hoping to persuade Fergal O'Donnell to remain in charge of the county's senior football team next year.
O'Donnell is thought to be considering his future due to work and family commitments, but officials are hopeful that that he will continue in the role after guiding the Rossies to a surprise Connacht SFC title success last month.
The Boyle-based garda, who has a young family, has asked for some time to consider his position following a hectic year which saw Roscommon relegated to Division 4 of the NFL before bouncing back to capture their first Nestor Cup since 2001 in sensational fashion.
"It's the wish of Roscommon county board that Fergal will stay in charge and we are hopeful that he will continue to build on the great work he has carried out. The county has received a huge lift this summer and at the moment people are taking a break after a hectic year. The matter will be raised early next month and it is hoped that Fergal will remain in charge," a county board spokesperson said.
