St Brigid's club notes

August 16, 2010
St Brigids 1-11 Boyle 0-11;
The Intermediate team gave a fantastic performance when beating a fancied Boyle team in Kiltoom on Saturday evening. Boyle started brilliantly and led by 4 points to no score when a great James Martin save kept the home side in the game and from then until the half time whistle Brigids workrate and hunger began to tell as we took the game to Boyle with Brendan O Brien tormenting the Boyle defence. Half time score Brigids 0-06 Boyle 0-05. The second half again saw the home side battle for everything and when B O'Brien rose to punch to the Boyle net it rounded of a superb display to top this very tough group and head to a Quarterfinal meeting with Fuerty. This was a great team performance with James Martin, Eoin Mannion, Darragh Sheehy, Robbie Gilligan, Gerry Dunning, Richie Blaine and Dixie O'Brien excellent for the winners.

U-14 BOYS LEAGUE FINAL;
St Brigids 3-09 P Pearses 1-11;
The U-14 boys rounded off a brilliant year by adding the Div 1 league title to the Feile crown won at the start of the year, also a great run in the championship where we lost after a trilling final meant this has been a great year for the lads. This final was the proverbial game of two halves, Brigids tore into their opponents from the throw in with John Cunningham hitting the net in the first minute, two minutes later Conal O' Briens rocket hit the bar with Conor Quinn first to react and fire to the net, this was followed by points by Alan Daly (2) , Luke Carty before a cool finish By Jack McDonnell to the Pearses net gave the lads a 12 point half time lead. But credit to the Pearses team as they turned in a great second half, but Brigids with points by Mark Carson, C Quinn and J McDonnell steadied the ship and hung on to claim the title. Well done to the players and management for the commitment and entertainment provided during a long season.
Team; S Mannion , D Kelly, R Fallon, E Gleeson, C Murray. B Stack, M Nolan, C O'Brien, G O' Hara, L Carty 0-02, M Carson 0-01, A Daly 0-03, J McDonnell 1-01, C Quinn 1-01, J Cunningham 1-01,subs used M Derwin for L Carty , P Daly for M Carson.
