Pearses club notes

March 15, 2010
Men's Senior Football.
Our Paul Flynn senior footballers were beaten by St Bridgets on Friday night in Kiltoom. Pearses played well in the first half but Bridgets pulled away in the second half. The Tansey Cup Game next weekend is against Creggs in Woodmount.

Ladies Football
Senior Ladies - An under strength Home Team were beaten by County Champions Kilglass on Sunday in the 1st round of the Winter League.
Final score Kilglass 4-13 to Pearses 2-09. Pearses trailed at half time by 2-07 to 0-06 with points coming from Sharon Corbett, Karen Naughton and the excellent Eilish Finneran. Despite playing against breeze in 2nd half the Pearses Ladies continued to be competitive and
2 well worked goals from Suzanne Costello & Steffi Carty kept the margin of defeat down. The players will be aware that there is a lot of room for improvement but the effort & application of all players could not be faulted.
Training continues on Friday night at 8.30.

U-16 Ladies
Pearses had one of the toughest tests to date when they took on St. Mary's of Tulsk in Woodmount on Sunday. Aided by a strong breeze St. Mary's notched up a brace of points. They scored 1-10 in the 1st half to Pearses 1-01. Due to the good work of Mary Grehan in goal, this could have been a lot more. In fairness to Pearses & aided by the wind in the 2nd half, they got down to business and put away 2 goals in quick sucession to put a more respectful look on the scoreline. Given that Pearses were under strength playing without Ciara O Murchadha Flynn, Niamh Farrell & the regular goalkeeper Shauna Cullen, they put up a very brave fight. In the finish St. Mary's finished 3-20 to 3-05.
Training continues Thursday evening in Woodmount.

Underage Hurling.
In Feile the U 14 hurlers had a large win over Oran on Saturday before last. This was a good all round performance.
In the Suck Valley League, the U 16s defeated Ballygar in Woodmount. Some good teamwork ensured a home victory over a resilient Ballygar outfit. Those that played well included , Gavin Downey, Aidan Warde and Ronan Daly.

Also in the Suck Valley League, the Minors got their year off to a winning start with a close victory over Ballygar. This was their first outing of the year and hopefully will be the start of a good campaign. Those that played well included Tadhg Cogavin, David Murray, Padraig Corbett, Conor Fallon and Ronan Daly.
