Scór Sinsear Final

March 08, 2010
Ballyleague was the venue for the 2010 Scór Sinsear Final; the culmination of Scór activities in County Roscommon for the 09/10 season.

The first competitors to perform on the night, Kilglass Gaels danced the Cross Reel and retained their Figure Dancing crown. Kilglass Gaels also took the honours in the Recitation competition thanks to Linda Corcoran. Linda recited the story of "Micheál Mór and City Sue" and had the audience in fits of laughter. The Solo Singing competition was won by Oran's Joe Cassidy with his rendition of "Raglan Road". The group singing title also went to a club from the Mid-South region - St. Dominics. They performed "Ringsend Rose" and "O'Carolans Tribute" to retain their title. The next team on stage to collect their trophies was Clann na nGael who had earlier won the Question Time competition with a perfect score of 60 points. This was their fourth win in a row. Kilglass Gaels claimed their third title of the night when their play entitled "The New President" won the Novelty Act competition.

As well as the eight individual titles on offer there was also the "Club of the year" competition. Points were awarded based on participation, and victories, in the various Scór events throughout the year and once again the title went to St. Dominics. Caroline Dervan, Chairperson of the St. Dominics Scór Committee accepted the Shield on behalf of the club.

The three Roscommon teams involved, Tulsk, St. Brigids and Clann na nGael all performed very well and Clann were unlucky not to win, scoring 53 marks - a total that secured third place.
