McConn departs Rossies
November 28, 2008
Roscommon are seeking a new hurling manager following Derek McConn's decision to step down after two years at the helm.
The Mayo man leaves the post after leading the Rossies to a Nicky Rackard Cup success in 2007, and keeping them in the Christy Ring Cup this year. However, they needed a play-off victory over this year's Nicky Rackard Cup winners Sligo to retain their second tier status.
Former Galway hurling star Anthony Cunningham has already been linked with the vacancy, having recently lost out to John McIntyre for the manager's job in his native county. Cunningham managed the St. Brigid's footballers for three years, during which he guided them to two Roscommon SFC titles and a Connacht club success in 2006.
