Junior C Championship

The lads suffered a 3-12 to 2-8 defeat to near neighbours Cappincur on Sunday evening. Great to see so many of the young lads make their championship debut but also great to see some of the old timers gracing the field again. Best of luck for the next round.

Intermediate Championship

Our intermediates took on Shannonbridge last Thursday evening in Tubber. A quick shower before the game meant a greasy ball and surface greeted the players at the start of play. Shannonbridge quickly settled to the task and ran into a 6 point to no score lead. It seemed to take the Daingean lads a while to get up to the pace of the championship but they eventually started to move the ball with Charlie Hayes registering a couple of scores. However Shannonbridge completely dominated the first half, running and moving the ball at speed and should have been out of sight with only the shot stopping of Conan Curley and the brilliance of Colin Brennan denying the Bridge a goal. Half time score Shannonbridge 0-9 Daingean 0-6. The second half continued in the same vein with Shannonbridge dominant for the first 10 minutes. Eventually the Daingean lads started to play and put some football together. They narrowed the score to a single point with Jamie Hayes and Charlie Hayes very impressive from frees and from play. The backs started to tighten up with Dallan Goulding leading the way. An inspirational Jamie Hayes free from distance levelled the scores and the game finished tied 0-12 apiece. Daingean will face Tullamore in the next round but will require a big improvement to progress in this year's championship. Team: Conan Curley, Dallan Goulding, Colm Brophy, Colin Brennan, Alan McEvoy (0-1), Danny Mangan, Larry Reilly, David Walsh, Cathal Egan, Johnny McGrath, Jamie Hayes (0-5), Ciaran McEvoy, Charlie Hayes (0-6), Shane Tierney and Conleth Carey. Subs used: Adrian Flannery, Ryan Duffy, Pauric Mangan, Tim Spellman
