Pat Flanagan wants to make it up to Offaly supporters in the All-Ireland qualifiers.

The Faithful have been handed a glorious opportunity to get back to winning ways after their disastrous Leinster SFC first round defeat to Longford after being paired with Waterford in the opening round of the backdoor series on Saturday week.

"We will give it our best shot," the Offaly manager told the Tullamore Tribune.

"They were in Division 4, the same as we were. I said at the start of the year that we needed to get out of Division 4.

"Wicklow have to play yet, but the majority of Division 4 teams were in the draw for the first round of the qualifiers. Our next goal is to take on this and get as far as we possibly can."

The Clara man added: "I asked the players to be totally honest and to give 100 per cent commitment or pull out and no player pulled out apart from Keith Mullally who we knew was going to America.

"That is very encouraging. They are working very hard. They are hurting badly after the Longford game and this is an opportunity to put things right for supporters, who we feel we let down."
