Offaly will be without star forward Brian Carroll for their Allianz Hurling League Division 1B opener against neighbours Laois on Saturday, February 14.

The Portlaoise-based teacher will miss the floodlit clash at O'Moore Park as he will be doing charity work with some of his students in Zambia at the time.

Offaly manager Brian Whelahan is hoping to have Joe Bergin back for that game after his recent injury layoff.
