JUNIOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINAL
Raheen Junior Footballers were breathing a huge sigh of relief last Saturday afternoon in Mucklagh as they kept their interest in the Junior B Championship alive just about by salvaging a last gasp Draw against Kinnitty in the Semi Final on a scoreline of 0-11 to 1-08. Kinnitty led from the start to the last minute as they opened the scoring with 2 points inside the first min followed by the goal on 7 mins when a high ball in from midfield was punched over his head to the net by full forward James Rigney before Raheen got off the mark with their first point on 9 mins. The sides added a point apiece before Kinnitty put themselves in control by adding another 3 points in the final 4 mins but they had a goal disallowed for a square ball which would have ended the game as a contest and so at the break Kinnitty led 1-06 to 0-02. Raheen were hoping for a good start to the second half but it didn't materialise as both sides added a point apiece early on with Raheen adding another a few mins later. Then as if things wernt going bad enough midway through the half Raheen were dealt another blow when corner back Ciaran Coughlan received a second yellow and was sent off with Kinnitty converting the subsequent free. At this stage the Raheen looked like they had no hope but both sides then made a number of changes with Raheen's seemingly firing them into action as they finally managed to get going and they hit the next 6 points in a row from Jack Keogh(2), Damien Arnold, Niall Leavy, Jack O'Brien and Johny Byrne to cut the deficit down to the minimum. Then in the final min Raheen won a free for over carrying about 45m out and Jack Keogh fired it all the way over to draw level and this proved to be the final kick of the game as final whistle was blown on the kickout. The replay will probably take place in 2 weeks time with date, time and venue to be confirmed.

Raheen then added 3 more points to Bracknagh's 1 over the next 10 mins but in the final 10 mins Bracknagh found their feet as they hit 5 points in a row to go in at the break with the lead 0-07 to 0-06. Both sides added a point apiece early in the second half before Raheen got retook the lead when the ball was worked in quickly from the wing through a number of players to Richie Reynolds who blasted it to the right corner of the net for the only goal.
