Offaly Championship Begins

Both our Senior & Junior Footballers were in action over the weekend.

Our Seniors were first in action on Friday night in Geashill. After a pulsating game of football they were unlucky to lose out by a single point of a 3-12 to 2-14 scoreline.

On Sunday morning the Juniors met a very strong Tullamore side and came off 5 points short on a 2-13 to 1-11 scoreline.

Next weekend sees the Hurlers in action in a very tricky away game against Seir Keiran in Clareen at 12noon on Sunday. Edenderry GAA wish our Hurlers and their management team every success as they strive to make the breakthrough from Junior ranks again.

Cul Redz

Our Summer coaching sessions have commenced at Edenderry GAA with our Cul Redz Hurling on Thursdays at 6 to 7pm and our Football on Saturday mornings from 10.30 to 12.00.

The programme is delivered by a group of club coaches including some of our Senior players and occasionally some of our County Stars drop in to help out.

Our nursery concentrates and is delivered through the GAA ABC/Have a Ball Nursery Programme. It involves a series of fun based exercises to develop movement skills for children aged 4-8 years old. These skills form the basis for the later development of the specific skills of Hurling and Gaelic Football. The level of competency with which one can perform these skills is referred to as their level of physical literacy.

U12 Football

Our U12 Footballers hosted Clara last week in the opening Go Games league games of the year. These young footballers played two games against Clara on the night and as Edenderry won on aggregate we now have two points collected in the league. Well done to all the players involved.

Offaly GAA has launched a full programme of Summer Go Games at U8, U10 & U12 level for both Hurling & Football. These fixtures can be viewed on our website www.edenderrygaa.com.

Congratulations to Geraldine Gorman who won our Bingo Jackpot of €3,800 when she checked in 42 numbers during Sunday nights Bingo Jackpot game.

Our Bingo Jackpot will now recommence at €2,000 next Sunday night in 45 calls or less. Our Bingo commences at 8pm every Sunday night in Edenderry GAA Clubhouse and there is now over €17,000 in prize money on offer every week.

Congratulations

Edenderry GAA offer their congratulations to the Offaly Senior Ladies Football team on their marvellous victory in the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday evening. Offaly have now won the Div 4 League title and surely will be considered serious contenders for the Leinster Championship and the All Ireland Junior Championship this Summer.

Edenderry has very strong ties with this team. They are managed by Greg Farrelly with assistance from Alan Ennis. Edenderry girls on the panel included Christine McDonnell, Kym Furey, Shauna Farrelly, Rebecca Gorman, Ciara Brady and Orla Kelly.

Condolences

The club offer their condolences to the Fennessy family, Fr Killian Crescent on the recent death of their mother Madge. Madge was a strong supporter of both the Edenderry GAA Bingo & Lotto for many years. She will long be remembered in Edenderry for her many charitable acts including the successful Golden Years draw she ran each Christmas during our Bingo.
